First Dates Set for Otonabee Ward Brainstorming Sessions

Posted Thursday, February 18, 2016

Summary:  The next meeting will occur next week, time and date to be announced shortly.  Our second brainstorming session will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at the Canadian Canoe Museum starting at 6:30.  If you cannot attend one of these meetings, you can host your own gathering and invite your councillors; you do not have attend a meeting to  register your project on the city’s website.

Councillor Contact Information

Dan McWilliams

Lesley Parnell

Last evening Councillor Dan McWilliams sat down with the citizens from Otonabee Ward who attended the City’s Participatory Budgeting orientation.  With a large map of the ward to work from, the discussion began.  Optimism and enthusiasm bubbled up, and nearly everyone took home a Project Leader Handbook.

In addition to Councillor McWilliams, Richard Freymond will be the staff contact person for Otonabee Ward, answering all questions, and helping citizens to vet their projects to determine eligibility within the guidelines of the pilot process.  Richard can be contacted by email at:  or at city hall: 705.742.7777 Extension 1862

The next Ward 1 meeting will take place next week, but the date is to be determined.  It looks like either Wednesday, or Thursday evening will be the best nights. The second meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. at the Canoe Museum on Wednesday March 23rd, closer to the deadline to submit  a Project Registration form which is April 7th.

Please encourage your Otonabee Ward neighbours to come out next week; I’ll have the date up on the website calendar as soon as it is confirmed.

If you cannot attend an evening meeting, Councillor McWilliams made it clear that he will attend neighbourhood meetings, or meet with individuals.  Projects can be registered on the city’s website without needing to attend a meeting; the advantage of the gatherings is to grow an idea with your community & get lots of people involved.
