Reminder: While City Hall is closed you can still get answers to common issues online

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and practicing physical distancing!

Just a reminder that even during these challenging times, you might have an issue or concern that is not related to COVID-19 that you want addressed.

While City Hall is closed, the people who normally greet you in reception are working from home, but you can still call in on the main line – 705-742-7777 –  and you will be greeted with either an option to access the voicemail directory by entering 411, or asked to leave a detailed message along with your email or phone number; your concern will be responded to within 30 minutes.  Staff are monitoring voicemails from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

In addition, if you call during regular business hours, you can also choose to reach specific departments if you have a question, for example, transportation, waste management, etc.  Please listen to the different options available,  then make your choice. You will be prompted to leave a message.

Another method of engaging with City Services is to use the city’s website.

Let’s say there’s a pothole on your street, a streetlight outage, or you have a question about recycling, property standards, or a tree problem.

A burnt out street light can now be reported on the city's website. The city’s website – – is your best and quickest way to let the city know about common issues and concerns that many residents have.  That’s why I continue to highlight and promote this easy to use, and effective feature.

Once on the City of Peterborough  home page, look for the link to Report and underneath it, click on the option Concern or Issue. From there, just complete the online form and submit.  Your submission goes directly to the appropriate person or department at city hall.

The online form asks you to identify the problem or issue and provide as much detail as you can – including uploading a photo if possible, the location or closest landmark – as well as your contact information so that you’ll receive a response.

This is the best way to make sure your question or concern gets to the right person quickly, and can be tracked until it’s resolved.
